“There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs” -Ansel Adams

The moment of time for which a camera’s shutter is open is more than a moment that light passes through the lens - it is a moment of life that has passed, never to be lived again.

At eastburn photography, we work to let our lenses capture precious moments for you and give you the power to hold those moments precious for ages to come.

It is our passion to capture the greatest gifts given to us by God - life and light. Whether it be the sky reflecting in the windows of a building or the gleam in a hunter’s eye - a newborn’s ponderous gaze or a bride’s loving glance.

Because it is our passion to capture these moments, there is nothing from which we turn our lenses away. For any part of your life that begs capturing, eastburn photography can capture it in a way that reveals life’s true expression. Our photography services cover the full range - from family & pet sessions, engagement & weddings, architecture & landscapes - to nature & wildlife, sports & events, even headshots and comp cards. Post-Processing LOTS of photos

Well, here I am in front of the computer on yet another workday evening, having a blast selecting photos from the hundreds taken over a very fun 4-day weekend trip to Michigan of all places… and thought I should take a short break from that to put out an update… just a little synopsis of what eastburn photography has been up to over the last couple of weeks.
As you’ve probably seen, we hit another car show and had a fun day of photographing the sweet motorhead works of art most of the afternoon. Then we spent most of the short week after that getting ramped up for our trip to Michigan. We had a good time there and although the weather was too wet to get out and photograph the outdoors, we had a wonderful adventure on a winery tour and then on the morning we were leaving town the sun broke through the clouds and gave us just a few gorgeous shots of the beach and water.
So this week, we’re working on all those photos AND a set that we took when we visited Robert H. Treman state park in Ithaca, NY before all this. Wow. So many things to photograph, so little time to process and post… but we are getting it done, so be on the lookout for new photos coming soon.

Finally settled in CNY

Hello to all our subscribers – we’re back! I apologize for the length of time since our last update. As many of you know, we’ve recently relocated from New Orleans, LA to Baldwinsville, NY… or rather, as it is more commonly known around here, “B’ville”. The move was fairly smooth as far as things within our control went, however, there are always those things you cannot control. Thus, our absence from this blog and our photography in general. Now we’re settled and finally getting back to the business of making beautiful images. That said, I’ll get on with our post here. :)
We’ve had the good fortune to have arrived before summer ended and that means we’ve had a good chance to see what we can get out and do in the summer. Having always had a great love for machines, we’ve both enjoyed the car shows going on this time of year. So this post brings out some of the images we captured Sunday at 7-Valley Street Rods’ annual car show in Cortland, NY. Below are some teasers and as always, clicking on any of them will open the gallery so you may view the whole set. Thanks to 7-Valley for putting this show on and thanks to the owners of all the cars we photographed – we could tell you put a lot of time and sweat into them. We hope you enjoy these photos and keep coming back to see what else we have for you!

Thann attends 2009 Syracuse Nationals

It was very good timing for me to be in Syracuse this weekend, as I was able to make it out to the Syracuse Nationals. This is a huge car show with all sorts of attractions and I had a blast walking around checking out the cars and taking photographs. Two of my favorite things at the same time! This post’s teaser photos (and the first photos to hit the gallery) are of Bud’s 1939 Lincoln Zephyr – this car was phenomenal. I got some great shots thanks to Bud’s willingness to show the car, but even these shots can’t do it justice. This is just a very fine automobile.
In the two afternoons I spent there,  took over 600 photos and am still weeding through them so I will post more as I get through them. Enjoy these photos and as always, click on any of them to go to the gallery for a full view!

Easter with Maddie

Hi everyone! I know this post is a little late, but there’s been a lot going on here at ep since Easter – look for a lot more to hit the gallery and blog in the next few days!

And now, on with the show! Here are a few shots from Maddie’s first Easter egg hunt – and a BIG “thank you” to Phillip and Kelly for having us cover this special moment. Michelle tells me that Maddie thoroughly enjoyed the thrill of the hunt… and was a total ham in front of the camera (which is not all that surprising, Kel). Enjoy these samples, but be sure to click on any of the photos below to get to our gallery and view the rest of the set!

A Hot Day At Audubon Zoo

Well after yesterday’s trip to the French Quarter didn’t really spark our creative fires, we took a chance that the weather would hold today and went for an outing at Audubon Zoo. Boy did it hold. As anyone here in NOLA knows, today was hot, humid and only occasionally cooled by clouds and wind. It didn’t affect us much, though and we came away with some great images. Most of the animals loved the breeze and were much more awake and posed than usual. All in all it was a bunch of fun for us. Here are a couple of action shots and you can check out the new images by visiting our gallery and looking in the “Wildlife” section.

*Just a note here, in the “action shot” of Michelle, I totally duped her into posing next to the sign… she had no idea what I was doing to her, but I love the shot. Hope you do too!

Gallery Updates!

This evening marked the beginning of gallery updates in earnest. Visit our gallery now and have a look at the photos that have been added! Some have been transferred into the gallery from other sites where we hosted them (Flickr, etc.) and some have never before been released. We are also on schedule to begin releasing images from several of our collections taken in the second half of last year, including many from visits to other states. So enjoy what we have posted this week and be sure to keep checking as we add the new content.

New site successfully launched!

Hi everyone and thanks for reading. I’m just making a quick post to say thank you for all the raves we’re getting about the new site. We’re looking forward to staying in touch with all of you and providing you with EP news & images as quickly as possible via the new site and gallery.

I’d also like to take a moment to catch you up on what’s changed with the redesign:

First, if you received this post via an update email message, it arrived courtesy of the new “Subscribe to Email” feature. Everyone on our original list of subscribers has been added to this system, so if you got it and you love it, great! If you got it and you don’t want to get any more, just click the “Suscribe to Email” link on the menu and fill out the form, selecting Unsubscribe as your option. That’s it! Easy, greasy, butter cheesy… as some of our good friends might say.

Second, with the new and improved blog format of the site, whenever we post new images they will be the first thing you see when you visit the site – that’s right, plastered all over the home page in big, beautiful high resolution. You’ll be able to click those images and view any other images from the set in our gallery.

Third, the site can now detect your browser and offer a slimmed-down format to fit your iPhone or Blackberry, although it will always offer you a link to switch back and forth if you’d rather see the full version. Hit the site with your iPhone and save a bookmark to your home screen!

That’s all for now, but keep coming back regularly – there’s much more to come over the next few weeks… and as always, keep us in mind for all of your photographic needs!

Welcome to our new site!

Thanks for coming to check out the launch of our new web site. Many of you were regular visitors to our previous site and we believe this new format will make it much easier for you to keep up with the happenings here at eastburn photography. The new design brings several new features to the eastburn photography site, including new ways to get updates and be notified when we post new content. These enhancements will allow you to subscribe to an RSS feed and/or subscribe to new post notifications via email.

We have also timed the launch of the new site with a new direction in the gallery area of the site. We invite you to browse our gallery and add it to your browser favorites, then check it often as we will be adding much more content over the coming weeks. Our gallery is where you will find any work that we have done recently as well as photos from events and outings. The gallery has an integrated shopping cart, allowing you to order prints or digital downloads for printing or emailing to friends and family.

The new site design was also initiated out of a need for organization – we had images strewn all over the web, from our own site to Flickr, Picasa, you name it. Now you’ll be able to find our all-star imagery right here along with all the latest news about what we’re working on.

Again, thanks for stopping in. Now go enjoy the new site!
